Writing About Your Senior Years,
"I Was There, I Did It, I Conquered"
A WordFellow Shop on Creative Writing: Tulak-Sulat
Overview of No. 5 WordFellow Shop
Write about one moment that you want to hold onto and understand better. Describe it in a way that lets the details come alive, so the feeling of that moment becomes meaningful.
This personal essay is about slowing down and paying attention. What did you feel? What did you notice? What didn’t you fully understand at the time? As you write, you are also saying, “I’ve been there. I lived through it. I made it through.”
As you reflect, you may begin to see that moment differently now in your senior years. You don’t need to sound formal or overly deep, but let the wisdom come out naturally from having experienced it. This creative nonfiction becomes your brave and honest testimony.
